The temples consist of stunning displays of fine sculptures and exceptional architectural skill, making them one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India. Based on their geographical location, the temples are categorized into three groups: Eastern, Western and Southern. Beautiful, intricate and expressive, the sculptures of the Khajuraho temples will leave you in awe and wonder.

Orchha: The historic town of Orchha, nestled on the banks of river Betwa, was founded in the 16th century by the Bundela Rajput Chief, Rudra Pratap. Ram Raja temple is the only temple where Lord Ram is worshipped both as a God and as a King. Built in the honour of the Mughal Emperor – Jehangir Mahal it is a brilliant example of Mughal architecture. An intriguing mix of a fort and a temple, its walls are elaborately decorated with fabulous mural paintings which show compositions from mythological themes.

Gwalior: Best known for its imposing hilltop fort, which was famously described as ‘the pearl amongst fortresses in India’ it is popularly called as the ‘Gibraltar of India.’ Within the fort high walls is the 15th century Gujari Mahal built by Raj Man Singh. It houses the 11th century Sas- Bahu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, an intricately designed historical site. Jai Vilas Palace, built in 19th century by Maharaja of Gwalior fine example of European architecture. Surya Mandir – the Sun Temple of Gwalior, built on the lines of legendary Sun Temple at Konark, Orissa is a magnificent amalgam of exquisite architecture in red sandstone and pearly white marble.
